This 28mm scale model represents a four column support for the concrete flyover, which is available separately. As with all our models this has highly textured surfaces. In this case the surface reflects rough cast concrete with panels of exposed aggregate. In some places the surface has spoiled away to expose the aggregate and reinforcing bars. We’re not sure of the cause but perhaps the nuclear explosion 20km away or the recent HE gunfire had something to do with this?
The four column type support comprises a mass concrete base with four rough concrete pillars, which support the width of the road section (available separately). The height of the columns and base combined is 121mm. The width of the top section is 108mm x 21mm wide.
The four column set can be used as a pair to support a bridge over, for example a motorway or river or just as a cross-over support in the built environment. The base is an integral part of the model and would protect the columns from heavy vehicular traffic and incidentally also provide excellent hard cover. The mass concrete of the base is relieved by panels of exposed aggregate, popular in the 1970s. The base is 52mm wide x 145mm long x 35mm high and is designed to fit between dual road models positioned centrally on our standard sewer grid.
These columns are wide enough to support one end each of 2 flyover sections so that: 3 are required to support 2 flyover sections, 4 are required to support 3 sections etc...
As with our other buildings and sewers, this series of models is manufactured to a modular format. The advantage of our modular approach is that you have flexibility in how you lay them out or re-use them for alternative scenarios.
If you want to mix the 'T' supports with the 4-column supports then to get the same height you would either need a central reservation section underneath the 'T' section base or let us know, at the time of ordering, (customers comments) and we can cast the 4 column support shallower to be the same 110mm height (this may take a little longer).
Any figures or bridge/flyover sections in the photographs are not included in the price.
